There is a great deal of confusion among consumers when it comes to nutritional supplements. The questions commonly asked are: What do I need? How much do I need? How do I take my supplements, with or without food? What time of day? And perhaps most importantly, how do I know that my body is actually using the supplements I am taking?

There was a lot of press recently regarding the labeling and ingredients of certain supplements. A few major retail chains were publicly embarrassed when it was determined that ingredients on the label didn’t match up with lab analysis of the product. There was either less than printed on the label, or, in some cases, it was missing completely! This certainly adds to the concerns of the consumer.

For this reason, and others, you really should consult a professional who has the credentials and experience to advise you properly (and not rely on the “opinion” of the cashier at the vitamin store!)

In addition to holding a license in NY as a registered dietician/nutritionist for nearly 20 years, I have also earned and maintain, through rigorous continuing education, a full Board Certification from the American Clinical Board of Nutrition (ACBN) and am also honored to sit on their national examining board. As a Chiropractic Physician for over 35 years, we also have the option of using blood test and other lab tests to determine your deficiencies and proper dosages.

Before you spend a lot of money on costly supplements that may not deliver what they promise, whether due to fraudulent or inaccurate labeling, or your body’s inability to absorb and utilize the nutrients, please consult an expert in the field.
